Falls are the number one killer in construction, year after year. A harness that's worn wrong or worn out isn't fall protection. It's a costume.

Talk it through

Inspect before every use: webbing cuts and burns, frayed stitching, bent D-rings, chewed-up lanyards, cracked snap hooks.
Fit it snug. Leg straps tight enough to slide a flat hand under, not a fist. Chest strap mid-chest, D-ring between the shoulder blades.
A loose harness moves the forces where they hurt you. A dangling chest strap can catch you across the throat in a fall.
Any harness that's caught a fall is done. Tag it, turn it in, get a new one.
Don't leave slack you don't need. The shorter the fall, the smaller the forces, the better your day.

Why the sign-in is on the same page
